United Russia party wins majority of seats in Russia's Duma elections

The Central Election Commission of Russia announced today, Tuesday, that the United Russia party won the majority of seats after the nationwide elections for membership in the State Duma (the lower house of the Russian parliament).

After 100% of the votes were counted, the United Russia party won 49.82% of the vote to take about 112 seats in the lower house of parliament, and the party's representatives won the elections in 198 one-state constituencies in the country, the TASS news agency reported.

Thus, United Russia gets a constitutional majority of more than 300 mandates in total, according to the Russian agency.

The Communist Party of the Russian Federation comes in second with 18.93%, the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia, in third with 7.55%, only Russia is in fourth place with 7.46%, and the New People's Party is in fifth place with 5.32%.

The elections to the Russian Eighth State Duma (the lower house) were held on September 17, 18 and 19.

The Russian Ural region witnessed an attack that left dozens dead and injured in random shooting, which disturbed the electoral process in Russia over the past three days to elect the Good Duma, which resulted in the victory of Russian President Vladimir Putin's party with a two-thirds majority.

The university's press center stated, in a statement reported by the Russian "Sputnik" news agency, that the students and teachers closed the doors on themselves inside the classrooms to avoid shooting, noting that an unknown person entered the university campus with a weapon and started shooting; What caused the death of 8 people and the injury of 24 others, in a toll that is expected to increase, 7 of whom were transferred to hospitals for treatment, one of whom is in a serious condition, explaining that all the security services in the city and the university are on alert.

For its part, the Russian Interior Ministry announced the arrest of the attacker, noting that there were injuries and casualties.
