Hamdok meets with the President of the World Bank during his first visit to Khartoum in more than 4 decades

Sudanese Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok met today, Thursday, in Khartoum, with the President of the World Bank Group, David Malpass, who arrived in Khartoum in the first visit of its kind in more than four decades.

Hamdok and Malpass held a session of talks at the headquarters of the Sudanese Council of Ministers, while the Sudanese Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Dr. Jibril Ibrahim, received the international official at Khartoum Airport.

The Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed the "historic" visit of the President of the World Bank Group and his accompanying delegation to Sudan, noting the significant political, diplomatic and economic importance of this visit.

She explained that this visit is the first visit to Sudan by a leader at this level in the World Bank since the visit of former President Joseph McNamara in the early seventies of the last century.

She stated that this visit of the President of the World Bank confirms the commitment of this institution to help the Government of Sudan to overcome the challenges of construction, reconstruction and development, leading to a peaceful and sustainable democratic transformation process. It led to positive results.
