Tokyo Olympics.. Jordan's Saleh Al-Sharbati wins taekwondo silver


Jordan's Saleh Al-Sharbati won the silver medal after losing in the 80-kilogram taekwondo final at the Tokyo Olympics, which he qualified for after his victory in the gold round over Uzbek Nikita Ravalovich on Monday.


El Sharbaty lost in the final against Russian Maxim Khramtkov, the first seed, who beat Egyptian Seif Issa 13-1 in the semi-finals.


Al-Sharbati achieved honorable results in the semi-finals, as he was leading 11-6 14 seconds before the end, but Rafalovic equalized two seconds before the end signal.


In the gold round, El Sharbaty scored two points to qualify for the final.


Jordan won its second Olympic medal in its history, and it will also be in taekwondo.


Ahmed Abu Ghosh won a gold medal in the 68 kg weight category in Rio five years ago.
