The Iraqi president stresses the need to secure his country's water share

Today, Thursday, Iraqi President Barham Salih stressed the need to secure his country's water share in order to provide for agricultural needs.

Saleh stressed, in a statement reported by Alsumaria News, that the water file is a cornerstone of Iraqi national security and a top priority at the national level in light of the severe climatic changes facing the country, the region and the world as a whole.

He stressed the need to communicate with neighboring countries to organize water relations in accordance with the principles of good neighborliness, taking into account the common interests of all, and not harming Iraq, pointing to the efforts made by the government and the Ministry of Water Resources in this regard.

He stressed the necessity of maintaining dams, protecting water bodies, securing irrigation requirements for farmers and farmers throughout the country, benefiting from international expertise in the field of irrigation and sustainable water management, and facing the crises of desertification and drought.
