Kuwait calls for continued international efforts to combat HIV

 The State of Kuwait called for the continuation of international commitments and efforts to combat the human immunodeficiency virus "AIDS" to reach a world free of HIV infections and related deaths, looking forward to more participation and exchange of information and experiences to achieve the goal in combating this virus.

This came during Kuwait's speech delivered by Counselor Tahani Al-Nasser to the high-level meeting of the United Nations General Assembly on the fight against HIV, the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) reported.

She said that her country is aware of the importance of prevention and care for HIV cases, and therefore, more than ten years ago, it formed a multisectoral high-level national committee to combat AIDS, and this committee developed the national strategic plan that focused on prevention, education and treatment.

She pointed out that Kuwait is participating in the activities of international organizations, agencies and programs related to the virus, stressing the importance of the recommendations contained in the Secretary-General's report and the importance of working as well to enhance cooperation between the relevant agencies and agencies.

She noted the importance of the political declaration issued by this meeting, expressing its support for the statement issued by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, Oman and the UAE, to which the State of Kuwait joined, by emphasizing the commitments and pledges contained in this declaration in accordance with the laws and national development priorities.
