Palestine calls on the Security Council and the International Criminal Court to bear responsibility for the settlement crime

The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates called on the UN Security Council and the International Criminal Court to assume their responsibilities towards the ongoing settlement crime and implement the relevant UN resolutions, especially Resolution 2334.

The ministry condemned - in a statement reported by the Palestinian News Agency today, Wednesday - the decision of the occupation authorities to lay the foundation stone for the construction of 350 new settlement units in the "Beit El" settlement near the city of Al-Bireh as part of the construction and settlement expansion process at the expense of Palestinian land.

The Palestinian Foreign Ministry held the Israeli government fully responsible for the crimes of settlement, home demolitions and forced displacement of Palestinian citizens, as a war crime and a crime against humanity for which international law is held accountable.

She stressed that settlement in all its forms is invalid and illegal in accordance with international legitimacy, its resolutions, the Geneva Conventions, international law and international humanitarian law, and it is one of the most important crimes files referred by the State of Palestine to the International Criminal Court.

She explained that she continues to report on all field developments related to the replacement settlement to the court, and is actively following up with the Public Prosecutor to urge her to expedite the implementation of her investigations into these crimes.

The Palestinian Foreign Ministry confirmed that it is continuing its political, diplomatic and legal activity to deepen the international front that rejects settlements, and to transform positions of international condemnation into actions and measures to compel the Israeli occupation to stop it.
