Beginning the vaccination of children at the age of 12 years with the Pfizer vaccine in America after the approval of the FDA

Some vaccination sites in the United States began vaccinating children between the ages of 12 and 15 against the Corona virus, Tuesday morning, a day after the US Food and Drug Administration licensed the Pfizer vaccine for the age group, according to what was published by CNN America.

The FDA has licensed the emergency use of the Pfizer vaccine for the younger age group after a clinical trial in 2,260 people between the ages of 12 and 15 showed that the vaccine was 100% effective and well tolerated.

"It was a relatively straightforward decision," said Dr. Peter Marks, director of the Food and Drug Administration's Center for Biological Assessment and Research, the arm of the Food and Drug Administration that regulates vaccines.

The FDA also scheduled a meeting for next month of vaccine advisors to discuss licensing vaccines for younger children.

As of Tuesday, 46% of all Americans had received at least one dose of the Corona vaccine, according to data from the CDC.

Health experts said that vaccinating young people would better protect them from contracting the virus and from spreading it to the most vulnerable people.

"This is big news. Young people are now the reservoir of the virus, so if we want to eliminate this virus, we must vaccinate the young," said CNN medical analyst Dr. Jonathan Rayner.

The FDA licensing came because children make up a greater percentage of newly diagnosed coronavirus infections than they did - they accounted for nearly a quarter of new cases in the week ending May 6, according to the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP).

The association said in a statement, "Children represent 24% of new weekly cases, and they represent 14% of all new cases of coronavirus."

In the week ending April 29, children accounted for 22.4% of new cases and 13.8% of all cases.

One of the children who received the vaccine, Jacob Lanni, 14, said: "My friend had a covid and it looked really bad, and I didn't want to get it."

He added that once he received two doses of the two-dose Pfizer vaccine, "I think I will be less afraid of infection and less afraid of having problems with infection with Corona."
