Export for Engineering Industries: 25% target to increase the sector's exports after solving the companies' problems


The Engineering Industry Export Council is considering increasing the sector’s exports during the coming period at rates higher than the current target by about 25% by solving the problems facing the 10 largest exporting companies in the sector, after listening to their demands and submitting them to Minister of Trade and Industry Nevin Jameh and reaching quick solutions that support the plan Export increased.

 

Sherif Al-Sayyad, Chairman of the Export Council for Engineering Industries, told Al-Youm Al-Sabea that the council has a clear vision to promote the sector’s exports during the coming period, through annual plans for export sectors in engineering industries, and to rely more on sectors that have a comparative advantage, as well as non-traditional markets, indicating That work is underway to open new markets through contacts on a number of levels, and work to communicate with international buyers and importers.

 

Sherif Al-Sayyad added that there is constant communication with the Ministry of Trade and Industry to achieve the strategy of promoting exports, as well as knowing all the details of the new export support support program, which is expected to start implementation soon, which will include the development of the vision and proposals of exporters in new measures to support and increase exports during the next phase.

 

It is noteworthy that the Engineering Industry Export Council announced an 8% increase in exports of the sector during the first six months of the fiscal year 2020/2021, reaching 1.340 billion in the first half of the current fiscal year, compared to $ 1.240 billion in the same period from 2019/2020.

 

In a report, the council revealed that engineering exports recorded an increase of 15% in December 2020 to reach $ 213.6 million, compared to $ 185.6 million during the same month of 2019.

 

The council pointed out that one of the most important engineering sectors whose exports rose were automobile components, which recorded an increase of 14%, and cables witnessed an increase of 21% and equipment. The Export Council for Engineering Industries announced that the sector’s exports during the first six months of the fiscal year 2020/2021 increased by 8%, as it reached 1.340 billion in the first half of the current fiscal year, compared to 1.240 billion dollars in the same period from 2019/2020.

The council pointed out that among the most important engineering sectors whose exports rose were automobile components, which recorded an increase of 14%, cables increased by 21%, household appliances increased by 20%, electrical and electronic industries rose 3%, and transportation exports rose 91%.
