Reducing ticket prices for archaeological areas and museums by 50% to stimulate cultural tourism



The Board of Directors of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, in its session today, Tuesday, headed by Dr. Khaled Al-Anani, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, approved a package of decisions and measures to stimulate the movement of cultural tourism in Egypt.

 

Dr. Mustafa Waziri, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, explained that one of the most prominent of these decisions is that the Council participates in the "different initiative in Egypt" launched by the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities in cooperation with the Ministry of Civil Aviation and the Chamber of Hotel Establishments, by granting 50% of the full ticket prices for Egyptians in the regions. And the archaeological museums open to visit, where a flat price will be applied to all Egyptians, which is the price of Egyptian student tickets, which represents 50% of the price of a full ticket, during the months of January and February 2021.

 

On the occasion of Egypt's hosting of the World Handball Championship from 13 to 31 January 2021, the Board of Directors of the Supreme Council of Antiquities also agreed to grant a 50% reduction in the value of tickets to enter museums and archaeological sites open for visits in the governorates of Cairo, Giza and Alexandria for the fans of the tournament that hold the Fan ID.

 

The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities has participated in providing some logistical and tourism programs for the fans of the tournament, who will come from abroad to encourage their teams. The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities stresses the need for all regions and antiquities museums to adhere to the application of all precautionary measures and to take into account the maintenance of safe distances between people during visits and the commitment to wear masks and not to exceed the number of one tourist group more than 25 individuals, in addition to the commitment to the maximum number of visitors present at the same time inside Museums and archaeological sites not exposed. Dr. Mustafa Waziri indicated that, in continuation of the efforts of the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities to mitigate the economic effects resulting from the emerging Corona virus crisis (Covid-19), the Council also agreed to extend a complete exemption to all cafeterias and bazaars in museums and archaeological sites affiliated to the Council from paying the rental value for them during the months of January. And February 2021, in addition to not applying any increases to the prices of tickets to visit museums and archaeological sites before November 2021, in light of developments.
